Adalius Thomas and Randy Moss Kick-Off the School Year by Giving Local Students Backpacks and Game Plan for Success

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/11/07 -- Today, following their electrifying debut with the New England Patriots, linebacker Adalius Thomas and wide receiver Randy Moss visited the Blue Hill Club in Dorchester, for a special "Kick-Off the School Year Rally." The Blue Hill Club, part of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, in partnership with BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), welcomed Thomas and Moss for the special event, which was sponsored by the athletes' charitable foundations. At the event, the two all-pro athletes helped students prepare for a great school year by sharing their game plan for success and giving each club member a new backpack.

The Blue Hill Club, located in a neighborhood in Dorchester severely affected by violence, recently underwent a $7 million renovation and expansion to accommodate more youth -- especially teens -- giving them a safe haven. During their visit, Thomas and Moss spoke to club members about how to prepare for success this school year. Sharing some on-the-field examples, they told club members that one's ability to succeed depends on their work ethic and the choices they make in life. Afterwards, Thomas and Moss handed-out special "Kick-Off the School Year" backpacks to all club members. Backpacks were provided by the Adalius Thomas Foundation, the Randy Moss Foundation and ePromos Promotional Products, Inc.

Thomas, an all-pro linebacker signed this year as a free agent from Baltimore, is known for his impact on the field as well as in the community. His "S.L.A.S.H." (Sportsmen Lifting Academics and Sponsoring Hope) fund sponsored a range of charitable programs in Baltimore as well as in Thomas's home state of Alabama. Now, he turns his attention to the Boston community.

"The mentoring, tutoring and guidance these young people receive from programs like BELL and Boys & Girls Clubs play a critical role in helping them reach their full potential," said Thomas. "It was important to me to get involved in supporting Boston's youth, and I'm proud to sponsor this event for BELL and Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston."

Moss, one of the most prolific wide receivers in NFL history also joined the Patriots this year, after playing in Oakland and Minnesota. As a newcomer to Boston, Moss plans to make his presence known in the local community as well as in opponents' end zones. He has established the Randy Moss Foundation to support community efforts in Boston and across the country.

The "Kick-Off the School Year Rally" was presented in partnership with BELL. Established in 1992, BELL's mission is to dramatically increase the academic achievements, self esteem and life opportunities of children living in low-income, urban communities. This year, BELL will help more than 10,000 students in Boston, Baltimore and New York City reach their full potential.
